Fairmont Windsor Park Review: A Luxe Countryside Spa Escape

A luxury hotel in Windsor, backing onto the Great Park

My partner and I recently escaped to Fairmont Windsor Park for a romantic weekend away in the country, and I'm still thinking about it. So here's my honest Fairmont Windsor Park review. From the moment we pulled up, the vibes were extremely high. I knew straight away this was going to be special.

The hotel backs right onto Windsor Great Park, so when I looked out, all I could see was rolling English countryside. It honestly felt like we were hours from anywhere, yet it's only about an hour from London.

It's newly built, and the aesthetics are out of this world. Everything is modern, sleek and super high end, but it still felt warm and welcoming. I walked into the lobby, took a deep breath and felt my shoulders drop instantly.

The rooms at Fairmont Windsor Park (and THAT bed)

When we opened the door to our room, I actually said "wow" out loud. It was spacious, beautifully styled and so calm.

But the bed. Oh my goodness, the bed. It was the biggest, comfiest bed I've ever slept in. I sank into it that first night and slept like a baby, and the next morning I genuinely didn't want to get up. If you go, trust me, plan in a lazy lie-in.

Dining at Fairmont Windsor Park: a real taste of Britain

Food was a huge highlight of our stay. There are seven restaurants and bars on site, and honestly, we could have stayed in the whole weekend without getting bored.

At dinner, I had the duck and my partner went for the game, and both were incredible. Rich, seasonal and so comforting. It felt like we were really experiencing British food at its best, with the English countryside right outside the window.

If you're going, here's where to eat and drink:

  • The Windsor Brasserie – the newest opening and the buzzy one. Modern European food from an open kitchen, beef tartare made at your table, Basque cheesecake from the trolley, and a DJ at the bar from Thursday to Sunday.

  • Il Giardino at 1215 – modern Italian inspired by the hotel's walled garden.

  • The Orchid Tea Room – the tea room, and one of the loveliest spots for afternoon tea in Windsor, with a menu inspired by the seasons. Go for the Champagne version, obviously.

  • 1215 Bar and Terrace – cocktails and fine wine overlooking the south lawn. Perfect for a pre-dinner drink.

  • The Library Club – an intimate bar in the library, pouring Champagnes and fine wines.

  • The gentleman's lounge – a cosy, moody spot for a nightcap, very old-school English country house.

  • Greens Café – the wellness café in the spa, with pressed juices and fresh, healthy plates.

And breakfast! Please don't skip it. Ours was amazing and set us up perfectly for a slow countryside day. Absolutely worth having.

The spa at Fairmont Windsor Park: my deep tissue massage

If you're looking for a spa hotel near London, this is it. The spa and gym here are, hands down, some of the best I've ever experienced. I was so excited for this part of the trip, and it did not disappoint.

I booked a deep tissue massage, and it was so, so relaxing. My therapist was unreal. She found every bit of tension I'd been holding onto and worked it all out. I literally floated out of that room. They gave me the fluffiest dressing gown and slippers too, so I spent the rest of the day padding around in total comfort.

Then there's the heated outdoor pool. Warm water, fresh countryside air, total switch-off. It's the dream.

If you like to keep moving while you're away, you'll love it here too. There's a full gym, an outdoor gym you can use, a reformer studio and fitness classes, so you can be as active or as lazy as you like.

For me, this is what makes Fairmont Windsor Park so special. I left feeling completely reset, inside and out.

Who I'd recommend it for: couples, families and dogs

Couples. For us, it was the ultimate romantic weekend away in the countryside. Spa by day, dinner and cocktails by night, that bed in between. I couldn't have asked for more.

Families. It's not adults only. They welcome children too, so it would work brilliantly for a luxe family break.

Dog lovers. Yes, it's a dog friendly hotel! With Windsor Great Park on the doorstep, your pup will be in walkies heaven.

Weddings. I could totally see why so many couples get married here. The grounds are so pretty, and the whole place feels made for a celebration.

Things to do in Windsor near the hotel

If you can tear yourself away from the spa (I know, it's hard), there's so much to explore right on the doorstep:

  • Windsor Great Park – walk straight out into thousands of acres of royal parkland. Perfect for a morning stroll, a long dog walk or a bike ride.

  • The Savill Garden – right next door to the hotel and stunning in every season.

  • Virginia Water Lake – a gorgeous lakeside loop with woodland views. Great for a slower afternoon walk.

  • Windsor Castle – the oldest occupied castle in the world and a must-see. Walk the Long Walk for that iconic view.

  • Windsor town and Eton – cobbled streets, independent shops, riverside cafés, and a short walk over the bridge to Eton.

  • A boat trip on the Thames – a relaxed way to see Windsor from the water.

  • Runnymede – the National Trust meadows where Magna Carta was sealed. Peaceful, historic and beautiful.

  • Ascot Racecourse – dress up and make a day of it if your stay lines up with a race meeting.

  • LEGOLAND Windsor – an easy win if you're travelling with the kids.

My final thoughts

Our weekend at Fairmont Windsor Park was everything I love in a luxury stay. It's new, beautiful and so high vibe, with incredible food, a world-class spa and the English countryside right outside the door. I came home feeling rested, inspired and already planning when we can go back.

Want to experience it for yourself? I'd love to help you plan it. Drop me a message, and I'll put together your perfect Windsor escape, so all you have to do is turn up, slip into that fluffy robe and relax.
